Turmeric For Health

Turmeric is believed to be one of the most potent healing herbs on planet earth. It contains 300 antioxidants! I always say planet earth has been endowed with food that can heal and protect us from life threatening diseases. And my duty to you my friends is to share my findings and experiences with you. Prevention is definitely worth more than a pound of cure!

As the Indians and other cultures discovered in ancient times, turmeric is a highly potent healing compound.Turmeric contains a compound called curcumin, and it’s this substance that accounts for turmeric’s powerful antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties.

Chronic inflammation in Kenya and the rest of the world is on the increase. That's because most people were raised on a diet high in processed foods laced with artificial chemicals and stripped of much of its nutritional value. And so many people still eat these foods every day!

It's because of toxins in our food, in the air we breathe, and the water we drink. It's because so much of our soil has been depleted, so that even many “healthy” foods don't provide the nutrition and immune-boosting power they once did.

Even for the most health-conscious amongst us, our bodies are literally in a constant fight.

From our lungs to our gut, this chronic inflammation can create lasting and sometimes permanent damage to our bodies and immune systems.

Meanwhile curcumin has become one of the most studied natural antioxidants and anti-inflammatory compounds in history.

In fact over 5600 research studies have been performed on turmeric and the curcumin it contains.

The most recent studies have shown that turmeric and curcumin have properties that set it apart from many other traditional herbal and medicinal plants. Its unique anti-inflammatory action has proven as effective as other medications for the treatment and management of high inflammation conditions such as arthritis, gastrointestinal problems and cancer. And also for the management of diabetes, as a cholesterol regulator.

The American Cancer Society states,

Laboratory studies have also shown that curcumin interferes with cancer development, growth, and spread. Researchers have reported that curcumin blocked the formation of cancer-causing enzymes in rodents. Recently, curcumin has received a great deal of focus because of its ability to reduce tumor size and kill cancer cells.

Bottom line: Turmeric works incredibly well to help naturally treat cancer and is especially effective at treating breast cancer, colon cancer and skin cancer.

How should you consume curcumin?

If you take just turmeric, most of it will not be absorbed in the body. In order to increase the bioavailability of curcumin always have it with black pepper. Black pepper has piperine, which aids absorption of turmeric in body by as much as a whopping 2000%.

You can also take it with good fats like coconut oil, olive oil or flaxseed oil.

The best way to consume these two powerhouse spices is with your freshly squeezed juices. I sometimes add curcumin and black pepper to my fresh juices and it actually tastes very nice. Yes it does! “ rolling my eyes as I write this to those none believers “

You can also take them in tablet form available in many health stores. This works for me very well when I’m traveling but the problem is mixing it with black pepper so I'm forced to take it during my meal that has a little of the healthy fats I mentioned.

What quantities should you be taking?

A tablespoon a day or thrice a week should be sufficient with half a teaspoon of black pepper. Do not over consumer because some people have reported allergic reactions to turmeric.

Enjoy and Cheers to your life and health. No excuses! Go get yourself some Turmeric!
